Briefly, I'm a student at the University of Southern Maine finishing up a degree in psychology. Degree aside, most of the work I've been doing is in biological and toxicology research, and I would like to explore that further in a graduate program. I'm really caught up in the enjoyment of science right now, as it gives me both a job that I enjoy and a chance to contribute something positive. I spent last summer in Palo Alto, California (40 miles south of San Francisco) working for NASA in the Bone & Signaling Lab (signaling as in cellular communication), mountain biking, exploring, and finally traveling home overland by Green Tortoise bus. This is, technically, my senior year although I've not been a super-traditional student so it seems a little remote to assign labels to the time I've spent as an undergraduate. I was recently back in the Dominican Republic helping out (in a very modest way) a group of nurses who provide primary care there every six months, and its really shaken up a lot of my peceptions.
